We are excited to be able to share with you this spotlight from Brad Sherman, the owner and designer of Moduli.
Let’s start out with learning a bit more about your company. What makes Moduli unique?
Moduli’s uniqueness lies behind the idea of providing furniture pieces focused around fundamental geometric shapes – the circle, the square, and the triangle.
Can you tell us more about Affix Storage Ottoman?
Affix is a modern, multifunctional ottoman storage system designed to enhance any space, large or small, alike. It is adaptable for a variety of room functions.Living in a small loft myself, something I’ve always struggled with was finding modern furniture solutions that served a multitude of functions. Affix was essentially conceived by my fascination of simple geometric patterns, and its need to be multifunctional within a small footprint while providing the option of adaptability for those who may have more space to work with. The Affix is 100% bench-made in North America. Each piece is individually bench-made by artisans at our workshops in Seattle, WA and Vancouver, B.C., Canada. We use no automated processes or generic assembly line.
What is the process behind coming up with new designs/products?
We are inspired and fascinated by simple 2-Dimensional shapes and its relationship within a 3-Dimensional world. Honoring a fundamental geometric shape is the first part of our design process. We love to then explore how the play of shapes begin to create a new purpose or function in context of a space. If the function falls short of meeting both goals, back to exploring we go.
What is your favorite part about being in the manufacturing industry?
Our favorite part of the manufacturing industry is being heavily involved with our local artisans to assure the end product lives up to our expectations. We work very closely with our partners to improve our designs, but to also ensure our products reflect the level of quality we are proud of.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
