Deirdre Doherty | Designer Spotlight

Meeting new designers is one of our favorite parts of the week! This week, we’d like to introduce you to Deirdre Doherty from Deirdre Doherty Interiors, Inc. Deirdre is based in Los Angeles but she has done projects all over the US in both residential and commercial capacities. Her work has also been featured in several magazines including Home & Garden, House Beautiful, The Wall Street Journal, and more. We hope you enjoy this spotlight and are able to glean some helpful tidbits from her experience.

What is your favorite part about being a designer?

Every day is different! No project is ever the same and we get to work with lots of different people.

Who or what would you cite as your most important influence?

Travel is my biggest influence and inspiration. There is nothing that draws creativity out of me than seeing different cultures, architecture, and design in person.

Can you tell us about your personal brand?

I have been designing for over 15 years and my personal firm is celebrating 8 years. As a personal brand, we are focused on design that really gives back to the user — comfort, beauty, and approachability that elevates the clients’ lives.

What would be one piece of advice you’d give someone starting their own interior design career?

The devil is in the details in interior design. Find a mentor whom you admire to learn what to do (and not do) to really become a professional. Don’t be afraid to design outside the box.

What do you like most about DesignerInc?

I love all the brand sourcing and pricing available in one place. It saves so much time, especially with the pricing all there. Not having to call a showroom to make sure you are in budget shaves days off the presentation process!
