Molly Howe | Designer Spotlight

This week’s designer spotlight is with Molly Howe. Molly started her own design firm in 2013. She loves designing places that are both functional and practical, and yet full of beauty and comfort. We hope you enjoy getting a sense of  her style through this spotlight!

What is your favorite part about being a designer?

I love helping people make their lives better/happier by the way their home looks and feels.

GABBY Bernhardt Currey & Co

Who or what would you cite as your most important influence?

Hands down, without a doubt, my mom! As a teenager, I witnessed her in action as she remodeled our house and designed their winter home in Arizona. She has this amazing eye for space planning and functionality that is unmatched. Combined with her great taste and remarkable ability to edit, both spaces turned out exceptionally well without one hint of “oh, if I had only thought of . . .”

Can you tell us about your personal brand?

I design for real people, living busy lives. Although I believe good design is a marriage of form and function, I am probably the most practical designer you’ll ever meet. I find myself constantly saying things like: that will get dusty way too easily, or, do you really want to walk that far carrying groceries? I strive to create a space for my clients that looks great, but is easy to maintain and even easier to live in for many years to come.

What would be one piece of advice you’d give someone starting their own interior design career?

I cannot express enough how important it is to get the legal side of your business set up properly from the start.

What do you like most about DesignerInc?

Most of my career has been in remodeling. When I started adding furnishings into my repertoire, DesignerInc saved my sanity! Finding the perfect pieces, getting quotes, and ordering everything in one place saves me countless hours and headaches.
