Let’s talk about Creative Metal & Wood first. What is it that makes this company unique?
Creative Metal and Wood has been building custom furniture for the Interior Design Community for 65 years. Located in Thomasville NC, CMW builds everything under their own roof. All production is 100% Custom, to the inch. Creative has three distinct catalogs:
- Their Metal and Wood catalog features steel tables and Etageres offered with a choice of Glass, Stone, Wood, or “Fabric Wrapped” tops.
- The Fabric Wrap Catalog displays their ability to build just about anything that can be sketched/ Everything is wrapped in their stocked program of 120 wallcoverings, which include natural grass cloths.
- The Creative Mirror and Art catalog features traditional and contemporary mirrors available in any finish, many available custom to the inch.
Could you walk us through the customization process for Creative Metal & Wood?
Steel frames are forged, cut, welded, polished and finished to order. Tabletops are made of a choice of glass, mirror, stone, wood or fabric wrap giving the designer a limitless palette to work with.
What is your favorite product category that can be made by CMW?
No doubt, their cocktail tables for the family room. Because of the extremely durable construction techniques and the multiple coats of Conversion Varnish used to protect the furniture from anything we can eat or drink. A CMW fabric wrapped cocktail will deliver generations of use for the growing family.

What are some of your favorite pieces you’ve seen created by T3?
Their work with Live Edge Slabs to create custom occasional and dining tables. Then seeing them use the same live edge material as door fronts in buffets and servers – Showing the beauty of American hardwoods.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the manufacturing industry?
Working in wholesale furniture industry for over 40 years I have seen dramatic changes as the “leaders” of our industry have abandoned their home communities in the quest of lower prices and higher stock prices. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
If it was completely up to me…. Lake Como Italy. I have loved my travels to Italy but never spent time in the North. A vacation combining Lake Como and the Dolomites for downhill skiing would be my choice, However my wife will prefer to go back to Positano for the food, the Limoncello and the unbelievable light on the Amalfi coast.
