What is your favorite part about being a designer?
The ability to be creative. Every project and end user is different, bringing about new challenges and solutions for the same end goal. There is always something new to discover, learn, and create. I feel honored to have the opportunity to share my creativity with others, bring one’s vision to reality, improve their state of well-being, and celebrate their accomplishments.
Who or what would you cite as your most important influence?
From an architectural perspective: Frank Lloyd Wright and Frank Gehry — their perfect vision on form, texture, and scale is always inspiring.From a design perspective: Kelly Wearstler — love her use of form and colors and Lori Weitzner — love her eye for color, textile, and wallcovering.From a personal perspective: My husband — I admire him for his patience and ability to graciously embrace change, which at times, is a challenge for me as I tend to get caught in the details 😊 😊 He loves to quote this mantra often…“The only thing that is constant is change – Heraclitus”. And my grandfather for being a visionary and philanthropist.
Can you tell us about your personal brand?
Embracing Lifestyle + Culture is what I call my personal brand. Today, many homeowners want their homes to embrace both, modern lifestyles and one’s cultural heritage. Having lived and worked in a few countries, I understand how cultural background can positively influence the way we live, work and play. I pay great attention to this aspect, when designing any interior space.
What would be one piece of advice you’d give someone starting their own interior design career?
Understand the business of interior design, from a financial and marketing perspective, as this will help you to run a profitable business and work with your niche clientele.
